"Sustainability and responsibility from field to fork are the starting point for everything we do, so it is gratifying that we once again rank high in a survey that deals with this. The fact that it is the Swedish people who have had their say makes it even more gratifying," says Claes Johansson, Head of Sustainability at Lantmännen.
Lantmännen is considered the most sustainable food company by Swedes. Among all companies, regardless of category, Lantmännen reaches fourth place. With this, it has been considered one of Sweden's ten most sustainable companies for all 15 years that the survey has been conducted. Lantmännen, together with Ikea, is the only one who has succeed with this.
The results of the survey are statistically significant.
"We are of course proud of the award, but at the same time not satisfied. Sustainability is not something you are done with – we want, can and will be even better," says Claes Johansson.
"It is gratifying that Lantmännen has consistently and for a long time been perceived as one of Sweden's most sustainable companies. At a time when major sustainability initiatives are sometimes questioned, I am proud that Lantmännen continues to make significant progress in driving the development of viable Swedish agriculture and increasing and sustainable food production. A concrete example is the first fossil-free food production on a large scale,” says Magnus Kagevik, Group President and CEO of Lantmännen.
In addition to Lantmännen, several of the company's brands received high rankings in food. Compared to last year, AXA advanced four places to place nine in food companies, GoGreen came in at fourteenth place and Kungsörnen next with a fifteenth place. Lantmännen is also considered to be among the most sustainable in Finland – Myllyn Paras ended up in fourth place and Vaasan in sixth.
The Sustainable Brand Index has been conducted annually since 2011 by SB Insight. In Sweden, 25,000 respondents were interviewed about a total of 434 companies.
