Regenerative agriculture

Climate & Nature meets the criteria of the SAI Regenerating Together framework for regenerative agricultural practices.

The term regenerative agriculture is used to describe cultivation methods that aim to restore and improve soil health, promote biodiversity and reduce climate emissions over time. Today, however, there is no legal or scientifically established definition of the term, which means that it is used in different ways by different actors.

To create a common and clearer frame of reference, the SAI Platform (Sustainable Agriculture Initiative Platform) has developed the Regenerating Together framework. The framework is a global, outcome-based framework for regenerative agriculture that has been developed together with farmers, academia and some thirty global food actors.

Climate & Nature meets SAI's criteria for regenerative agriculture

Climate & Nature has been analyzed and evaluated in relation to this framework, from a Swedish agricultural perspective. An internal risk and criteria analysis has been carried out based on the four impact areas included in SAI's definition of regenerative agriculture: soil health, water, biodiversity and climate. The analysis shows that the measures in Climate & Nature address identified risks in all areas of the SAI framework. Based on this comparison, Climate & Nature meets the criteria in the SAI Regenerating Together framework for regenerative agriculture. At the same time, Climate & Nature is a dynamic program that is continuously developed in line with new research, technological development and practical experience from agriculture. For companies that want to work more systematically with regenerative principles in their raw material supply, Climate & Nature can offer a concrete and verifiable way to apply regenerative agricultural methods in practice, adapted to Swedish growing conditions.
