Hi Karin.

Tell us about your current role.

I work as a product developer of food ingredients at Lantmännen Biorefineries in Lidköping. I have worked with both wheat and oat-based products and right now I am working a lot with the development of pea protein isolate, linked to our planned pea protein factory in Lidköping. In addition, I am involved in projects related to the operation of the biorefinery.

Have you always wanted to be a product developer in the food industry?

No, I planned to work with biomaterials during my studies. The reason why I changed my focus is that I started as an industrial doctoral student at Danisco Sugar where I was offered employment after I completed my licentiate degree.

What attracted you to apply for a job at Lantmännen?

A friend who worked at Lantmännen recommended me to apply, and I thought it seemed like a good employer with interesting jobs. That I chose product developer is pure coincidence because I was actually looking for another job, but instead was offered my current role that actually suits me better than the one I applied for.

What do you find most interesting in your job?

That the tasks are so varied and to have the opportunity to be part of the future, such as plant-based proteins. Being involved in projects related to operation and optimization and investigating how changes/optimizations potentially affect the properties of the end products is also interesting!

What qualities are important to succeed in your role?

Curiosity, curiosity, and flexibility.

What drives you to develop?

I constantly want to learn more and get better at what I do.

How do you describe Lantmännen as an employer for acquaintances?

I think Lantmännen is a good and safe employer. It's great that we're active throughout the chain from farm to fork, and I'm proud to be part of a responsible company.
