New TV series highlights Swedish farmers – from everyday life on the farm to food supply

News, 2025

Soon, viewers all over Sweden will get a unique look behind the scenes of Swedish farms. A new TV series is currently being filmed, portraying everyday life on five farms across the country – from early mornings to late nights, from animal sheds to fields. The series, Svenska Bönder, shows the vital work carried out every day to put food on our tables – work that often takes place far from the spotlight but is essential to us all.

Behind every loaf of bread, bowl of porridge, or plate of pasta are people and businesses who take responsibility for ensuring that food is produced safely and sustainably. For farmers, this is about knowledge and experience built up over time, applied every single day in the running of their farms. The series gives viewers an intimate insight into life on Swedish farms – from daily chores and harvest time to big life decisions and global challenges – and highlights the people behind the food we eat.

For Lantmännen, this initiative is part of the company’s long-term efforts to raise awareness of where our food comes from – and to remind the public of the crucial role Swedish farmers play. The farmers’ dedication and expertise are key to preparedness, and sustainable development, ensuring Sweden’s food supply.

At the same time, Lantmännen wants to inspire more young people to discover the opportunities within the agriculture sector. Being a farmer means working with something that affects everyone – producing food ingredients that become our meals, managing natural resources, and driving progress toward a more sustainable society.

Svenska Bönder will run for eight episodes and is produced by Delta Studios for Viaplay. With Lantmännen as one of the collaborating partners, the series is planned to premiere in early 2026 on Viaplay and TV3.
