The European Commission’s investigation into ethanol trading continues

Lantmännen Agroetanol takes note that the European Commission has fined Abengoa S.A. and Abengoa Bioenergía S.A. for breaching EU antitrust rules. The European Commission’s investigation into Lantmännen Agroetanol and Alcogroup SA for alleged violation of EU competition law in ethanol trading continues.

Since October 2014, the European Commission has investigated Lantmännen Agroetanol, Abengoa S.A and Alcogroup for alleged violation of EU competition law in ethanol trading. Lantmännen Agroetanol takes note that on 10 December 2021, the European Commission announced it had fined Abengoa S.A. for breaching EU antitrust rules. The European Commission’s press release indicates the decision was taken under the settlement procedure. The European Commission’s investigation into Lantmännen Agroetanol and Alcogroup SA for alleged violation of EU competition law in ethanol trade is ongoing. Lantmännen Agroetanol will pursue its rights of defence in full, while continuing to be cooperative with the European Commission during the investigation.

Lantmännen Agroetanol’s financial provision in relation to this investigation is considered sufficient.  

The date and time of adoption of any decision addressed to Lantmännen Agroetanol is dependent on the European Commission’s process.
