Press releases, 2017

Lantmännen Agroetanol participates in Fossil Free Sweden’s seminar at the United Nation’s climate conference COP23 in Bonn, Germany. Isabella Lövin, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Climate, as well as Deputy Prime Minister, will also participate in the seminar about the industry’s transition to a fossil free business.

On Thursday the 16th of November, Lantmännen Agroetanol participates in Fossil Free Sweden’s seminar Fossil free cement, steel and fuel – making business of industry transition during the United Nation’s climate conference COP23.

– I am honored that Fossil Free Sweden, together with the Minister for Climate and Development, Isabella Lövin, have chosen to invite Lantmännen Agroetanol to speak at COP23 to highlight one of the best examples of green industrialism in Sweden, says Carl von Schantz, Head of the Lantmännen Energy Sector.

Lantmännen Agroetanol, part of the Lantmännen group, is the largest biorefinery in the Nordic region. The company's plant in Norrköping, Sweden, refines cereals and residues into three main products - ethanol, protein and carbon dioxide - which are transformed into sustainable products such as biofuels, animal feed and carbon dioxide.

During the seminar, Carl von Schantz will present Lantmännen Agroetanol's sustainable business model and discuss challenges and opportunities for reducing the industry’s climate impact.

– I really look forward to attending the COP23 conference and hopefully our example will inspire others to increase their efforts in going from fossil to renewables, says Carl von Schantz.
