Thomas Magnusson elected President of agri-cooperatives organization Cogeca

Today Thomas Magnusson – who is member of Lantmännen’s Board of Directors – was elected President of Cogeca, a European organization for agricultural cooperatives. Copa Cogeca – where Copa is the Europan organization for farmers – plays a key role within public opinion and agri-politics in Europe.

The Presidency chair in Cogeca is one of the highest ranking non-political posts within European agriculture and as President Thomas Magnusson will, among other things, meet Ministers of Agriculture from EU at council meeting 
“I’m proud and honored to represent European farming cooperatives. My mission is about lifting strengths represented by cooperative companies and their part in European agriculture,” says Thomas Magnusson, newly elected President of Cogeca, and continues:

“As President I will be working to strengthen the competitiveness of European agriculture and of course several of my experiences come from Swedish conditions and Lantmännen.”

Directly after the meeting in Brussels Thomas Magnusson heads to Paris to represent European farmers at the UN Climate Conference.

Thomas Magnusson has been LRF’s representative in Cogeca for five years, of which three as Vice President, and he succeeds Christian Pees from France. Thomas Magnusson continues to represent LRF as President of Cogeca.
