Press releases, 2014

Lantmännen Cerealia has acquired Strängnäs Valskvarn. The family owned mill is advantageously located in the Mälardalen region of Sweden and has built long-standing customer relationships. The acquisition further strengthens Lantmännen Cerealia’s position in the flour sector in Sweden.

The Strängnäs Valskvarn mill will form an important part of Lantmännen Cerealia’s long-term production strategy within the milling industry in Sweden. The acquisition joins two other Swedish mills in Uppsala and Malmö already owned by Lantmännen Cerealia.

“We are delighted to have this opportunity to acquire such a fine mill in Strängnäs. The mill will form an important part of Lantmännen Cerealia’s long-term development strategy and will enable us to continue to improve the service we offer our customers,” said Fredrik Malmfors, Supply Chain Director at Lantmännen Cerealia.

“Lantmännen aims to increase both grain production and refining output in Sweden. The acquisition of the Strängnäs mill is in line with this strategy,” said Per Olof Nyman, Lantmännen CEO and Group President.

The Strängnäs mill has 22 employees and operations there will continue as before. The Strängnäs Valskvarn “Polstjärnan” brand is also part of the acquisition.
