Inger has baked over 1 billion sausage breads during her 46 years

Inger Karlsson has worked as a bakery operator for 46 years at Lantmännen Unibake’ s bakery in Örebro. Over the years, she has tried several different forms of work - part-time, full-time, 2-shift, weekend shift and night, she thinks it is good that there is an opportunity to have variety. Inger has experience with pretty much all machines in the business. The only thing she hasn't tried is the robotics area.

"It's perfect with rotation so that you constantly can do new things, it's good for both the body and the mind," says Inger.

Lantmännen Unibake is a good company, it's safe and I have great colleagues. I have really enjoyed myself here and with my work tasks.  

What is most important to you in everyday life?
I highly value my health. Money is important, but health is what I put first. I think it's great with the wellness allowance we get from the company, a great benefit. I also like being able to take responsibility, I believe I get the opportunity to do that here.

What is your favorite memory from your long career?
Oh, I have many memories. Above all, it's all laughs! I remember when I started at the company, then it was more manual work compared to today. We worked a lot together as a group and we had so much fun. We laughed so hard we were sometimes doubled over.

I also remember my first Christmas party. Then Henry Jansson, founder, and owner of the company at that time, gave all employees an envelope with money as a Christmas present. The amount of money was based on how long one had worked in the company. I had worked for two and a half months so I received SEK 50, which was a lot at the time.

Do you have any advice for someone who joins Lantmännen as a new employee?
Don't stress at the beginning, listen and take it in. Take it easy, no question is too stupid, so ask and ask for help if you need it.

What do you say if someone asks about your job and duties?
Oh, I can rattle off a whole story, there's a lot to tell. I could write a book.
Today I work in the trough and mix dough for hot dog buns. 27,000 hot dog buns per hour, so during my working day today there will be over 200,000 hot dog buns.

At the beginning of the year, the Group Management Team of Lantmännen visited Lantmännen Unibake's bakery in Örebro. You were given the opportunity to show your workstation. How did you feel about that?
It was fun to meet them and get to show my everyday life, nice that they are interested.

At midsummer this year, Inger will retire after 46 years of employment.

How do you feel now that you are about to retire?
It feels good - on the other hand, I will of course miss my colleagues, they feel a bit like a family.
