Leadership redefined: a journey of growth, self-discovery, and connection
Leadership is a journey, often defined by small yet meaningful experiences that challenge assumptions, encourage self-reflection, and lay the foundation for growth. For me and my fellow Graduate Trainees at Lantmännen, the first step on this path unfolded over three unforgettable days at Högberga Gård. It wasn’t just an introduction to leadership; it was the opening chapter of a transformative adventure.
Högberga Gård offered a calm and focused environment for our first leadership module. Its peaceful surroundings encouraged reflection, while the thoughtfully designed program challenged us to step out of our comfort zones. Over the course of three days, we embarked on a journey designed not only to enhance our professional capabilities but also to deepen our understanding of ourselves.
Leadership from within
Central to the module was the concept of self-leadership, expertly guided by our mentor, Abby. Through her insightful approach, we explored what drives us as individuals: our motivations, values, and aspirations. This wasn’t a lecture or a checklist of skills; it was a deep dive into the personal foundations that shape effective leaders.
Building bridges through authenticity
One of the most impactful exercises involved describing ourselves through our core values. What might have seemed like a simple activity became a profound moment of vulnerability and connection. By sharing these personal insights, we forged a foundation of trust and camaraderie — elements crucial to any successful team.
