"This new facility allows us to meet growing customer demand while strengthening our position in the region. It reflects our strong commitment to Swedish food production and represents a long-term investment reliability, product quality and innovation," says Jonas Lindell, Managing Director of Lantmännen Unibake Sweden.
Lantmännen Unibake Sweden has operated the bakery in Örebro since 1963. Today, the site is one of Europe's largest specialty bakeries for hotdog and burger buns, with a production capacity of over two million pieces per day.
"With the expansion, we are increasing capacity and thus Swedish food production. The building incorporates a range of measures that support our climate ambitions – including solar panels and technology upgrades. These enhancements reflect our continued focus on responsible growth and incremental improvements in environmental performance”, says Jonas Lindell.
The new 13,000-square-meter facility, spanning three floors, will be built within the existing factory area. The new production facility marks the next major milestone following Lantmännen Unibake’s 2023 inauguration of a new central warehouse in Örebro.
"This investment is an important addition to our business, built to meet the future and secure our leadership in the bread industry for years to come. We’re investing boldly in our people, in Swedish food production, and the growing market for hotdog and burger buns," says Jonas Lindell.
Construction begins in autumn of 2025 with operations set to launch in 2027.
