Lantmännen Energi AB signs agreement to acquire Ekobenz

Press releases, 2025
Lantmännen Energi AB has entered into a preliminary agreement with ARP (Agencja Rozwoju Przemysłu) S.A. and the minority shareholders to acquire Ekobenz Sp. z o.o. (Ekobenz) in Poland. The acquisition extending and strengthening Lantmännen Energy’s position as a leader in bioenergy products by building a fully integrated and resilient supply chain for sustainable fuels. It reduces reliance on fossil resources and delivers scalable, commercially viable solutions for sectors where electrification is not yet feasible.

Founded in 2006 by Stanisław Jabłoński in Lublin, Poland, Ekobenz has pioneered Ethanol-to-Gasoline (EtG) technology, producing advanced biofuels that significantly reduce CO₂ emissions. In 2017, the company started operating a state-of-the-art commercial facility in Bogumiłów and a track record of producing millions of litres of sustainable fuel. Ekobenz employs 61 people, creating sales revenue of €13m (2024) and has a strong customer base in the special fuels segment (particularly within motorsport).

“With the acquisition of Ekobenz we extend our value chain and strengthen our position as a leader in sustainable fuels. By combining proven technology with Lantmännen’s biofuel expertise, we take another step toward sustainable and scalable biofuel solutions.” says Magnus Kagevik, Lantmännen’s CEO and Group President.

Ekobenz will be able to leverage the technical expertise of Lantmännen Biorefineries which has a wealth of experience in producing Ethanol with worldclass sustainability, offering an impressive reduction of up to 98% of CO2 emissions compared to fossil gasoline, at its Norrköping facility. This will support a reliable, sustainable feedstock foundation for the production of Ekobenz’s bio-gasoline, alongside existing supply chains.

With a production facility already operational and certified in Europe, Ekobenz brings to Lantmännen Energy a long-proven technology to produce high-quality sustainable fuels. This includes bio-gasoline, bio-LPG, and bio-aromatics. The integration of Ekobenz into Lantmännen’s energy portfolio enhances it’s capacity to offer immediate, scalable, and infrastructure-compatible solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

“With Ekobenz, we gain valuable expertise and the capacity to produce bio-gasoline based on bio-ethanol. Combined with our existing operations, this acquisition enables us to close the value chain for sustainable fuels - from raw material to finished product”, says Niklas Lindberg, Senior Vice President Lantmännen Energy Division

The transaction is expected to be completed by 1st December 2025.
