Street Food of the Year is a new initiative where the winner of Årets Kock interprets street food using Swedish ingredients, with Lantmännen’s products as a key element. Through this, Lantmännen aims to contribute to gastronomy and make Swedish produce a natural part of one of the country’s most prestigious culinary competitions.
“We want to bring gastronomy and Swedish agriculture together – and showcase the magic when they meet. With Street Food of the Year, we highlight the diversity of Swedish food and give the nation’s top chefs space to create something new. At the same time, we want to inspire home cooks to experiment with Swedish produce – food that tastes good and is sustainably produced,” says Frida Tydén, Director of Communications and Marketing at Lantmännen and Board Member of Årets Kock.
Michael Andersson, winner of Årets Kock 2024 and soon to open a new grill restaurant in Stockholm, emphasizes the meeting between tradition and playfulness:
“It is exciting to work with ingredients that so many Swedes recognize. My idea was to create a dish that surprises, yet pays tribute to Swedish quality. Porchetta and chili cheese meet in a dish that should be easy to grasp – but with depth of flavor that leaves a mark. Our Swedish ingredients are part of our identity and the foundation for gastronomy that feels both modern and familiar.”
