Sustainable
development

Sustainability is central to Lantmännen and crucial to our long-term success. We integrate sustainability throughout our value chain with a focus on the environment, social responsibility and responsible business.

Lantmännen's Code of Conduct

Our sustainability work is based on our Code of Conduct, the common set of values that permeate all of our operations.

To drive change, we collaborate with strategic partners and engage our employees in all parts of the organization. Through active participation in dialogues and collaboration between politics, business and civil society, we contribute to solving complex societal challenges. Our goal is to create a positive impact on both the environment and society, while strengthening our long-term profitability and growth.

Our responsibility

As one of the Nordic region's largest groups in agriculture, bioenergy and food, Lantmännen has both a responsibility and an opportunity to influence sustainable development.

Environment

Lantmännen is committed to driving sustainable development throughout our value chain.

We focus on reducing our climate impact and promoting biodiversity. By implementing existing knowledge in cultivation concepts with added value and at the same time contributing new knowledge, we drive development forward. We work circularly and take advantage of residual streams from our various operations, which strengthens our long-term value creation for owners, customers and society.

Key sustainability focus areas

UN Global Compact and Agenda 2030

Lantmännen signed the UN Global Compact initiative back in 2009, which means a long-term commitment to integrate ten principles for responsible business throughout the business. These principles cover the areas of human rights, labour law, the environment and anti-corruption. As part of the commitment, Lantmännen annually reports its progress and results to the UN through a Communication on Progress (COP).

The UN's sustainability goals within Agenda 2030 constitute an important starting point in Lantmännen's work to identify and prioritise significant sustainability issues. Through a thorough analysis, Lantmännen has defined which goals are most relevant to our business and how these are integrated into existing strategies and future development.

To further deepen the understanding of our responsibilities, a double materiality analysis has been conducted. This analysis has identified the most significant sustainability issues for Lantmännen, both from a business perspective and from the perspective of the impact on the outside world. In the environmental area, priority is given to climate impact, biodiversity and resource efficiency. In terms of corporate social responsibility, the focus is on employee health, safety and equal treatment, as well as on maintaining responsible business relationships with a particular emphasis on human rights. A high ethical standard, good animal welfare and safe, healthy products are also central parts of Lantmännen's sustainability work.
