CapVest Equity Partners II (“CapVest”) and Lantmännen ek (“Lantmännen”) are pleased to announce the formation of the Nordic´s leading poultry producer, with a turnover of more than SEK 5 billion. The new company will be created through the simultaneous acquisition of Kronfågel Group in Sweden and Denmark from Lantmännen, and Cardinal Foods in Norway from CapMan. The new ownership structure positions the business for further development in international markets, as well as opportunities for product development and innovation.

Lantmännen’s financial result for the fourth quarter of 2012, after financial items and adjusted for items affecting comparability, amounted to 100 MSEK (5 MSEK). The improvement over last year is mainly due to higher earnings in the Energy Sector, and lower financial costs.

On 1 January this year the EU’s sustainability criteria for biofuel came into force, which included criteria for the sustainable production of ethanol. In 2010 Lantmännen Agroetanol and Lantmännen Lantbruk worked intensively to ensure that they would be able to meet these criteria. Lantmännen welcomes these new regulations and in 2010 a third-party inspection was carried out on its production chain to ensure that it met the sustainability criteria.

Norway is the second country after Sweden to invest in a large scale ThermoSeed method. After six years of evaluation, the Norwegian company Felleskjöpet Agri SA has ordered two machines to their seed treatment plant in Holstad. The goal is to reach 25 000 tons of ThermoSeed treated seeds annually. The machines are of the same type as the one in the Lantmännen seed treatment plant in Skara.

Lantmännen Agroenergi AB has reached an agreement to sell its former UK subsidiary Renewable Fuels Ltd. to the specialist bio energy company Coppice Resources Ltd. The sale is another step in Lantmännen Group's strategy to become leaner and more focused. The transfer is effective from 1 December 2010.
