Hazardous raw materials, such as cocoa and wood, are used in Lantmännen's products and can have a negative impact on people and the environment. To contribute to more sustainably grown products, Lantmännen collaborates with others in the industry, read more about our collaborations here. The raw materials soy and palm are described separately.

Cocoa

Cocoa is mainly used in baking and breakfast products. The cultivation of cocoa is linked to potential negative effects, such as deforestation and poor working conditions. To prevent negative impact and contribute to a more sustainable value chain, Lantmännen has committed to purchasing products certified according to the Rainforest Alliance or equivalent standard by 2025.

Wood in packaging materials and for energy production

At Lantmännen, wood is mainly used as a packaging material for food products and to produce wood energy. To avoid contributing to negative impacts, such as deforestation, Lantmännen has committed to sourcing 100% certified wood according to the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Program for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), or wood of confirmed Nordic origin.
