Our food products do not contain raw materials from genetically modified crops and we ensure the availability of GMO-free feed. Here you can read more about our view on GMO/genetic engineering.

Genetic engineering means opportunities for the development of crops and cultivation techniques. With the help of genetic engineering, plants can be given traits such as resistance to pesticides, resistance to insects or both.

At the same time, there are potential risks and many consumers have a sceptical attitude towards genetically modified foods. The risks discussed include uncertainty about the long-term effects of new varieties and reduced biodiversity due to strong dominance of few plant varieties. Another criticism concerns agriculture's dependence on the chemical society and large plant breeding companies. For some crops, a large part of global cultivation is currently based on genetically modified varieties. This applies to soy, for example.

We are positive about the potential that genetic engineering in plant breeding has to contribute to a sustainable society. At the same time, we are aware that there are risks and that some consumers are worried. Lantmännen's food products do not contain any genetically modified raw materials. We also ensure the availability of GMO-free feed.

Based on industry requirements for GMO-free soy, we make it a requirement for all our soy suppliers and use rigorous quality programs to ensure compliance. We ensure that the soy is GMO-free by signing agreements for GMO-free soy and analyzing the received product.
