Responsible business

Lantmännen conducts its business with a high level of integrity and transparency in accordance with our Code of Conduct. We follow strict ethical guidelines, prioritize animal welfare and have a whistleblower function to report irregularities. By maintaining high standards of business ethics, we build trust and contribute to a sustainable and fair business environment.

Corporate culture and business ethics

At Lantmännen, our Code of Conduct is a central part of our culture. It is based on our common values: openness, decisiveness and a holistic view, and describes the responsibility of all employees, board members and elected representatives from an environmental, social and business ethics perspective.

To ensure that these values permeate the entire organization, all employees are trained in the Code of Conduct. It is complemented by policies and guidelines that provide concrete support in our daily work and help us make the right decisions in different situations. Lantmännen's well-established whistleblower system makes it possible for employees to anonymously report suspected irregularities, crimes or other serious misconduct. All reports are handled confidentially by an independent function. The aim is to ensure transparency, prevent corruption and create a safe working environment where no one risks reprisals for raising the alarm.

By ensuring that we follow ethical principles, laws and regulations when conducting business at Lantmännen, we build a reputation for transparency and reliability. It is fundamental for us to be able to deliver on our sustainable development and the reason why ethical commitments are such an important part of Lantmännen's Code of Conduct.

Lantmännen clearly distances itself from all forms of corruption, bribery, money laundering and unfair competition. Through our Business Ethics Compliance Program , we work to prevent violations and ensure that we comply with applicable laws and regulations while maintaining a high ethical standard throughout the Group.

The programme is based on six components that aim to work preventively against corruption by:

  • Carry out ongoing risk assessments, adapt routines to risks and follow up on how the work is progressing
  • Promote an ethical business culture, with clear leadership, communication and training
  • Setting routines for getting to know those we do business with and ensuring that they also comply with ethical principles and applicable laws

It is particularly important to build an ethical business culture to have committed management and to create a high level of awareness among our employees through communication and training. In addition to all employees completing training in Lantmännen's Code of Conduct, we aim for at least 95% of affected employees to also complete in-depth business ethics training. This applies to roles with higher risk, for example in purchasing, sales and senior positions. Follow-up takes place on an ongoing basis via our training system and is reported to Group Management and the Board of Directors.

In 2024, the target was achieved for all trainings: 97% completed the Code of Conduct, 98% completed the anti-corruption training and 99% completed the training in competition law. Follow-up takes place on an ongoing basis via our training system and is reported to Group Management and the Board of Directors.

Animal welfare

Animal welfare is a particularly important focus area within our company Scan. An updated animal welfare policy has been adopted in 2024 with the goal of promoting welfare. The policy is based on five key areas: nutrition, physical environment, health, natural behaviour and mental health.

Lantmännen works actively to prevent shortages. In 2024, animal welfare has been further strengthened through financial incentives within the Farm Initiative, with a particular focus on improved infection control to counteract diseases such as African swine fever. The farm initiative involves financial compensation that Scan pays to its supplier farms. The aim is to support farmers in implementing concrete sustainability initiatives at farm level. For example, investments in new technology, improved animal welfare, and measures that promote biodiversity and reduce climate impact
