Lantmännen and Yara are now jointly taking a leading role in the transformation of the food system. The companies are launching a pilot project with the ambition to create the world's first certified fossil-free food chain. Through the collaboration, it will be possible to offer consumers more sustainable food and thus reduce climate impact. 

In June, Sweden Food Arena launched a report that presents the Swedish food sector's research and innovation agenda to achieve the vision of the food strategy. Lantmännen has participated actively in the work to develop the agenda.

Lantmännen, together with several different actors, has laid the foundation for three new competence centres for sustainability and competitiveness in the food value chain, which have won funding from FORMAS. The centres will be based on cooperation between businesses, professional associations, academia and local and national authorities. 

The growth company assists with capital for growth and increased competitiveness for Sweden's farmers, and since 2016 has contributed SEK 75 million to development in the agricultural sector. Lantmännen is one of the co-owners who, together with LRF, Växa Sverige and HKScan, are supporting the financing of the farm. 

Lantmännen works in partnership with customers to develop and scale up our program for sustainable farming; Climate & Nature. Since 2015, wheat has been grown according to the program, where Polarbröd was one of our first customers.

Mistra Food Futures develops strategies that will lead to a sustainable Swedish food system that delivers healthy food. Lantmännen will be part of the research programme and contribute with expertise from the grain value chain.
