From field
to the future –
10 years of
Climate & Nature

For ten years, Lantmännen's Climate & Nature cultivation programme has driven the development towards more sustainable agriculture.

2015 – The starting point for Climate & Nature

Lantmännen is launching the Climate & Nature cultivation programme – a big step towards more sustainable farming. Right from the start, Polarbröd joins as the first customer, and Kungsörnen changes its flour products. The program introduces measures such as larch plots, sustainable plant nutrients, precision farming and eco-driving. Result? 20% lower climate impact compared to other conventional cultivation of wheat.

2020 – More actions and new collaborations

Five years into the journey, the programme is being developed with further initiatives – fossil-free fuel and flowering zones are being introduced as new measures. The climate impact will also be lower, from 20% to 30%. At the same time, interest from food companies is growing. Oatly becomes a new customer, and Axa switches its oatmeal to the cultivation program, at the same time as Kungsörnen connects its pancakes.

2021 – Climate & Nature continues to grow

Engagement increases and the programme gains another strong partner – the food company Paulig joins and strengthens its commitment to sustainability. The Friday tacos now have a lower climate footprint with their tortillas.

2022 – New industries join

During the year, the program will be broadened when Spendrups joins as a new customer and enables the cultivation of malting barley according to Climate & Nature. At the same time, Krafft joins, which means that horse feed products will also be produced within the framework of the program.

2023 – Bigger steps towards fossil-free cultivation

One of the biggest advances so far – fossil-free fertilizer will be a measure in the program, which means that cultivation can now take place with a 45% lower climate impact compared to 2015. At the same time, Semper joins as a new customer and more products  with sustainably grown raw materials become available.

2024 – Biodiversity and fossil-free harvesting

The programme takes further steps to benefit biodiversity by introducing new criteria, such as buffer zones, legume-rich grasslands and bird fields. Stjärnägg becomes the first external feed customer. A historic moment takes place – the first fossil-free harvest.

2025 – A Decade of Progress

Climate & Nature celebrates its 10th anniversary and celebrates a decade of innovation and sustainable development. Coop joins with its product "Coop oatmeal" and  both Korvbrödsbagarn and Hatting are switching, which means that even more products grown with a lower climate impact are available on the shelf. From vision to reality – together we have taken great steps towards the future of agriculture!
