Alarik Sandrup was nominated for the position prior to the annual meeting and was appointed chairman of the board for the Swedish Bioenergy Association April 2nd, 2020. Sandrup replaces Karin Medin, CEO of Söderenergi.
Svebio is a commercial environmental organization and a cross disciplinary meeting place for companies, researchers, opinion leaders and decision makers with around 265 members. The organization is the leading Swedish representative in terms of the development of bioenergy in a sustainable society.
"Svebio has a very important role in increasing the use of locally produced sustainable bioenergy, especially in terms of growth in the domestic production of biofuel based on natural resources from the agriculture and forestry sector. Sweden has great potential to reduce its climate impact through the increased use of sustainable bioenergy, which I will work for as Svebio’s chairman of the board," says Alarik Sandrup, Director of Public and Regulatory Affairs at Lantmännen.
Alarik Sandrup has been the Director of Public and Regulatory Affairs at Lantmännen since 2009. Lantmännen has been at the forefront in biofuel production in Europe with Lantmännen Agroetanol, exemplifying best practice of production of sustainable ethanol.
Sandrup has been a board member of Svebio since 2008, apart from a pause during his placement in Malawi as Programme Director of We Effect. Sandrup also holds positions in ePURE, SIANI, World Bioenergy Association, Copa-Cogeca, SBPI (Swedish Petroleum and Biofuels Institute) and KSLA (The Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry). Given this background, he brings extensive experience and a valuable network from his different positions within the agriculture and energy sector into his coming work as chairman of the board for Svebio.
Alarik Sandrup assumed the role as chairman of the board on April 2nd.
