Lantmännen Unibake modernizes its bakery in Örebro

Press releases, 2019

As part of the long-term development of its operations in Örebro, Lantmännen Unibake is making a larger investment in its bakery there. The upgrading work in the bakery is due to be completed in early 2020.

Starting in 2019, Lantmännen Unibake is implementing an investment project at one of its Swedish bakeries, located in Örebro. The investment is being made to modernize production and is a significant move for the long-term development of the bakery.

“Our production in Sweden and the bakery in Örebro are an important part of the Lantmännen value chain and our responsibility from field to fork. The modernization work will contribute to a better working environment and greater competitiveness in our bakery operations in Örebro,” says Jonas Lindell, CEO of Lantmännen Unibake in Sweden.

The 18,000 m² bakery has 200 employees today. The investment, which will be completed in 2020, includes the automation of bread packaging currently done manually, which will affect around 20 jobs. The personnel in Örebro were informed of the plans on Tuesday (March 5th).

“The investment will lead to a modernized production process, which means a reduction in personnel at the Örebro site. However, the new system will create a better working environment for the employees,” says Lindell.

Lantmännen Unibake is one of the largest bakery groups in Europe. Production in Sweden is concentrated to three bakeries, based in Huddinge, Mantorp and Örebro. The Örebro bakery manufactures bread for the fast food segment, that is marketed under the Korvbrödsbagarn brand.
