In order to win ground in the Belgian retail landscape, we are hiring a driven Key Account Manager Retail.

This is what you will do

As Key Account Manager Retail you will be managing client relations with every Belgian retailer (Delhaize, Albert Heijn, Carrefour, Lidl, Aldi,…) but also exploring opportunities with other retailers. The main challenge is business development! You act as the SPOC for senior buyers at the different retailers and are able to position Lantmännen Unibake as a top-of-mind supplier. You’ll work on co-creation of new products, have full P&L accountability to accomplish growth and will be in charge of developing strategic plans per retailer.

Primary areas of responsibility:

  • Develop, communicate and implement medium- & long-term strategies & short term (1 year) business plans for Belgium to achieve maximum sales and profit growth whilst ensuring customer strategies are achieved.
  • Establish close business relationships with all key customer departments with as a result that Lantmännen Unibake is involved in all relevant business development opportunities and considered as a preferred (strategic) partner.
    • Highlight NPD opportunities, develop products in conjunction with NPD colleagues for new lines (including account exclusive lines) so that customer needs are met and sales targets are achieved.
    • Have ongoing dialogue with demand planners to meet customer service level KPIs. Provide notice of events (list/delist, promotions etc.) in advance allowing efficient forecasting and planning.
    • Negotiate prices, rebates, promotions, listings and payment terms to ensure the best deals are secured.
    • Manage the right product mix to maximize margins.
  • Keep a close eye on market trends in order to gain and argue Lantmännen Unibake’s competitive edge.
    • Continually & proactively monitor and analyze the retail market trends and competitor’s activity.
    • Lead the preparation and review of monthly sales reports, the analysis of marketplace trends, retail sales, individual account trends and competitive with bullet points all the primary areas of responsibility, reported in the competency-based job description template.]

This is what you need to succeed:

You have:

  • In addition to a Master’s degree you have at least 3 years of experience in a FMCG account and/or category management role. Experience within a customer focused sales environment is crucial, whilst experience within the food sector is considered as a plus;
  • Experience in building account plans and customer partnerships;
  • A customer focused, target orientated individual with a positive mindset and desire to succeed;
  • A self-starter who is motivated, passionate, hardworking and organized.

  • Profound analytical skills that enable you to identify opportunities, trends,…, as well as insights on P&L
  • Strategic thinker to translate your findings into a strategy to tackle the Belgian market and an actionable plan per customer;
  • You have an internal drive and show ambition to win market share for Lantmännen Unibake;
  • Your excellent communication and persuasion skills enable you to influence effectively the different decision makers at your clients and engage your internal stakeholders (i.e. colleagues from NPD, Marketing, Quality,…). Also, you can express yourself fluently in Dutch, English and French;
  • As a skilled and confident relationship builder you are able to identify opportunities and start partnerships that last on the long term;
  • Your organizational skills are on point and you show flexibility to shift easily between priorities whilst your goal orientation makes sure to keep your eyes on the target;
  • Thanks to your professional presentation you act as a Lantmännen Unibake’s ambassador in promoting our values of entrepreneurship, aim for high quality products and service levels, passionate team players, etc.
