In order to reinforce our Lantmännen Unibake Marketing team we are hiring a Business Category Manager to join our BeNeFrItEs-cluster (cfr. Belgium - the Netherlands - France - Italy and Spain).

This is what you will do

As the Business Category Manager you will be developing and implementing the vision & purpose for your Category - including the portfolio-strategy of your category, 24 months rolling NPD-funnel, operational Category Marketing Plan and Product-reviews within S&OP process.

Primary areas of responsibility:

  • As business development manager for your business category you will be analyzing all business development possibilities and turning opportunities into successes.
  • Take ownership on category sales & profitability (P&L), Product-Review within S&OP-cycle, innovation- and RFQ-projects, …
  • Set up the discipline of retail category management - including strategy, systems, processes and way of working.
  • Lead category development projects at customers, and together with the Key Account manager, you will be the point of contact for our retail customers.
  • Lead the set up of B2C brand initiatives, and B2B in store bakery development.
  • Strongly develop the turnover and profit levels of our retail customers, and set up strong partnerships with our customers.
  • Drive the innovation and new product development based on consumer insights for the retail channel, in collaboration with R&D and product managers.
  • Develops long-term plans and policies for the related specialist area supporting formulation of corresponding marketing strategies.
  • Develops long-term partnerships with corresponding service providers and drives procurement processes, including ongoing assessment of quality.
  • Scanning supply/innovation synergies and opportunities within UNIBAKE and stimulate best practices from Marketing, Supply and Innovation.

This is what you need to succeed:

You have:

  • Master degree with a specialization in marketing or economics and minimum 10 years of work experience in retail category management, including leading category development projects with customers, preferably within category or shopper marketing in an international FMCG company
  • Broad experience in upstream and downstream Marketing experience (+5 years) and in a complex project management context
  • Understanding of key marketing & Sales processes (S&OP) and Business management processes
  • Experienced in developing B2C brands
  • Experience within a fast moving industry, as well as a broader record of accomplishments within sales, marketing or research – experience within the food sector is considerate as a plus
  • Having an in-depth knowledge of category management tools and the “discipline”
  • You can express yourself fluently in Dutch, English and French. Knowledge of any other language is a clear asset.
