Johan Karlström new Head of Food Sector

Johan Karlström has been appointed the new Head of Lantmännen’s Food Sector. Johan is 44 years old and is currently working for Kraft Foods, where he is responsible for their Nordic activities. He will start his new job at Lantmännen on 8 March.

Lantmännen overhauled its organization in 2009, restructuring its eight business areas into four sectors: agriculture, machinery, energy and food. Johan Karlström has now been appointed as the Head of Food Sector. Around 69 percent of the Lantmännen Group’s employees work in 19 countries in this sector, which represents 42 percent of the Group’s turnover.
- It is going to be exciting to start working for Lantmännen’s food sector. Lantmännen is a large and interesting company with many attractive brands and products. An important part of my work will be to continually develop the activities and take on the challenges that the production and sales of food are facing. I’m looking forward to contributing to the interesting change work that has already started in the organization, which aims to make Lantmännen an even stronger player on the market, says Johan Karlström.

The food sector develops, processes and markets products in flour, breakfast products, pasta, frozen and fresh bread, chicken, ready-meal concepts and animal food.
Well-known brands in the sector include Kronfågel, Kungsörnen, Axa, Hatting, Gooh, GoGreen, Schulstad, Schulstad Bake Off, Mjau and Doggy. Gathering all the Group’s food areas into one sector creates synergies in the value chain and also helps in consumer awareness and selling to customers.
- I’m very happy that Johan Karlström will soon be here with us, bringing his experiences of the food industry with him, particularly regarding change processes. His ability to work successfully and his personality will help us on our continued journey to an even stronger company, says Per Strömberg, CEO and Group President for Lantmännen.

Arable land and its possibilities form the basis of Lantmännen’s operations. As a leading player in food, energy and agriculture, Lantmännen is strongly committed to building a sound and healthy society. Lantmännen is active in every part of the value chain – from field to fork. With our customers as our focus, the company develops and processes arable land resources in a responsible manner. Lantmännen operates in an international market and Sweden is the basis for the Group’s business activities.
