Lantmännens research unit, called Lantmännen Food R&D, is the joint research and development company for the business operations that focus on food in the Lantmännen Group. It includes the experts at Lantmännen who are jointly responsible for food technology, nutrition, microbiology and product safety/quality assurance.
Lantmännen Food R&D’s business concept is to act as a bridge between research and product development and thereby to create the prerequisites for innovations in Lantmännen’s food companies. The unit leads and promotes development around unique and innovative products to and from Swedish agriculture for the national and international markets.
Activities also focus on the transformation of research results to commercial products, the initiation and management of projects that have the objective of advancing research, and monitoring of the industry to highlight research issues for Food R&D. Work is also conducted on an active basis to establish contacts with the National Swedish Food Administration and the food industries.
Development & Innovation
Together with Lantmännen’s research foundations, Lantmännen Food R&D also participates in different research networks. Cooperation is established with universities and colleges for practical research, but also directly with other companies and financers. Lantmännen Food R&D also has extensive collaboration with research and market players in the world at large.
The ambition of Lantmännen’s research activities is to capture new research results and ideas through active management and participation in internal, national and European research and development projects, and to function as a link between the research world and commercial operations.
The objective is also to initiate and promote innovative development projects in consultation with the different business areas, and thereby to enhance the degree of refinement. The combination of research networks within the group and contacts from outside is a source of strength for the research work, while the group’s extensive knowledge of the market and its large number of research channels constitutes an additional advantage.
